Poetry: Nourished
Draw near to me, my love
Let me nurse the wounds
Inflicted by this cruel world
Let me kiss your bruises
And massage your aching muscles
I have made our bed soft
For you to rest your weary bones
I’ve prepared good food
To nourish your body
And once it is cared for,
let me nourish your soul
Lean into my embrace
Rest in our safe haven
Know that your soul has a home with me
And mine with you
As the world rages outside
I will drown out the noise
Wish sweet whispers in your ear
We cannot see the evil while
Drowning in each others eyes
You won’t be able to feel it’s pain
As I bathe you in my kisses
I cannot take all of your troubles
I cannot fix this cruel world
But for tonight, I can offer
A moment of reprieve
Entangled in each others arms
